VILLAGE CONCEPT
Xseed In Life Kansas City Non-Profit
For years now the urban community has claimed “It takes a village to raise a child.” However; the masses look out for only those closest to them. There is very little productive networking and our children are left to enter into adulthood with very little assistance. Because of this lack of unity, our children and young adults lack self-empowerment, cognitive and educational development, as well as communication and networking skills.
The concept of a village is simple. A village is a community of people who live their lives invested in those around them. Everyone helps and assists those within the community. Each individual involved in the village can both learn and teach anyone some of their experiences and life lessons. Rather than a “get rich and move out of the community” mentality, village life is more of a “pay it forward” situation. The village people are involved in each other’s lives, insuring community development and prosperity. A council of men and one of women construct and teach the tools of adulthood to the villages’ youth and young adults.
The urban communities need a village like system which will actually be successful in giving an equal opportunity for social mobility among the races. If the village concept was developed and used in the urban community, the benefits would expand throughout the city exponentially. As one village is established and strengthened, another village can be form in another city in which the process continues to repeat itself. When a community of people have a purpose, plan, and proficient networking system even a single village can change a nation.
